Dr. Barnett was born in New York City. When she was very young, her family moved to Leeds, England, and this is where she got her first taste of “All Creatures Great and Small” and loved every minute of it! She got her first pony at 8, first horse at 11 and has continued to collect a menagerie over the years.
Dr. Barnett went on to earn her Bachelor of Science at the University of Maryland, her Veterinary Medical degree at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and her Master of Public Health at Benedictine University in Illinois. She became Board Certified by the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine. She worked with horses for 10 years before moving to small animal medicine.
She has been our Medical Director since 2019. While overseeing 30+ veterinarians is similar to trying to herd cats, she manages to keep our crew running smoothly and her door is always open for questions and concerns. She loves the unique perspective and opportunities of a privately owned practice and the autonomy and flexibility it provides to our program. We are able to fit our program to the individual versus forcing the individual into a regimented program.
